Thirty minutes is not exactly a sacrifice.
Yes. That's how long it takes to listen me to meditate each morning. That doesn't just apply to the Brain Evolution System, but practically any meditative practice.
Half-an-hour is really all you need.
I'm on Level Two of BrainEv right now, and really finding that it has had a profound affect on my day.
Here's a top BrainEv (or other brainwave meditation program) tip for anyone interested. Try setting your alarm clock 30 minutes before your usual wake-up time. Then sit up in bed, slip on your headphones, and play your level.
It's a great way to begin your day, clear your mind, and start the day truly refreshed. I personally find it provides way more benefit then the extra few minutes in bed could ever do - and is a great way to fit in the program, without it having any negative impact on my schedule.
Anyway, Level Two is going brilliantly so far, and is making a really positive impact on my life so far. Another update next week.
I'll leave you with this intro video to Level Two, from Michael Kelley, the BrainEv brainwave engineer....

Brainwave Meditation with Level Two!
The time has come, the walrus said, to talk of many things...
Like Level Two, for example.
For anyone new to this blog, let's briefly recap on my adventures so far. Many years ago, I used brainwave meditation programs such as Holosync with great success. I achieved the best results with the Brain Evolution System (aka BrainEv).
The problem was that life "took over" and after some really positive experiences, I forgot all about the benefits, and got caught up in my daily existence. On this blog, I'm documenting my journey as I begin to rediscover meditation once more - with the help of the BrainEv.
After a rocky start with Level One, and my general 'commitment' to it, I finally completed the first month - and I can say that after the first few weeks, everything became 'set in stone' again.
I realized that after an initial lack of commitment, it really does take just a few weeks to turn an ongoing desire into a true habit.
This week has been my first week with Level Two - and what can I say, except that I'm really loving it!
There was an initial resistance. When you've spent a month listening to the cosy, gentle, warm sounds of Level One, you don't want to change. A new level, a new world... does it really matter? Can't I just keep with what I already have, and the great benefits it's already provided?
But in order to grow, you must push for the next level... that next weight on the machine... and so I tried it out.
The first listening was a little disconcerting. I was reminded that Level Two had a number of church bell-like sounds, presumably Tibetan singing bowls. After the initial surprise at their randomness, I soon got used to them.
After the first session, Level Two soon relaxed me as quickly as Level One. I was quickly transported to an Eastern monastery, distant singing bowls gently deepening my thoughts and helping me to connect to my inner being. And all the time "working out" my brain and helping relieve stress in my life.
I'm continuing to experience profound benefits with the program. A friend actually commented the other day that they'd never noticed me as composed as I was then... calm, forward, connected.
I've also found that my own "thinking speed" has noticeably improved. Words that would usually be "on the tip of my tongue" are now actually ON my tongue. The articulation of my sentences has improved. In general, I'm FEELING more intelligent and switched-on.
So, a really positive start to Level Two. Can't wait to see what's next.
Here's an introductory video about BrainEv for those that are interested!

Goodbye Level One of Brainwave Entrainment...
Well, I've reached week four (shh-five) of my adventures into brainwave technology - and I feel fine.
In fact, I feel more than fine. I feel probably better than I have in a good few years.
My mind is calmer. I'm chattier than before. I'm suddenly a lot less socially-awkward, which is an interesting side benefit. I also feel generally more chilled out.
The song "We Have All the Time in the World" by Louis Armstrong hit the radio the other day, as I sat down for my evening meal. I just stopped, listened to every word, and smiled.
This really is how Level One feels for me...
Next, I start on Level Two: Lucid Echoes.
Keeping this kind of online log has proved really beneficial for me. Giving me a little motivation to move beyond the "false starts" that can come with any sort of new habit. Another place you can share your feelings and general experiences is the brainwave entrainment forum at BrainEvForum.com.
You might just want to check that out :)
See you next week for another update!

Brilliant Brainwave Meditation Moments
This past week represents my fourth week of using the Brain Evolution System.
And I can honestly say that I've really started to feel the benefits.
This week particularly has provided me with those days that really make it all feel just worthwhile.
After a rather lackluster previous seven days, I committed myself to listening once per day for the required six days per week. And for once, I actually stuck to it.
Honestly, the benefits have been SHINING through.
I've found myself waking up each day with more motivation. I've found that I'm more energetic. I've somehow managed to get rid of all of the 'brain fog' I had last week. I've just generally been happier and more focused, as though I'm on some sort of fantastic 'trip' pill, but without any negative side effects.
Officially, I should be moving on to Level 2 at this point....
But I'm going to break the rules.
Following my tardy attempts last week, I'm sticking with Level 1 for just one more week. There's also a certain "comfort" level here. It's warm and cosy and really gets results.
I'm so pleased that I've started blogging and meditating again... and am really looking forward to seeing what happens over the next week, as I reach the end of my days in this exciting level.
See you next week for another update!
(By the way, check out http://brainev.com/demo if you'd like to try BrainEv for yourself.)

The 21 Day Brainwave Meditation Struggle
I have to be honest.
Over the past week, I've been a pretty poor meditator.
I remember going through this process many years ago when I first got started. I'd meditate (using BrainEv) for a few days, and feel absolutely great.
My stress levels would rapidly decrease. I'd experience 'flow' like never before. And my mood would really rocket. It was great.
But then life would get in the way.
I'd have a late night, and get woken up early. Goodbye morning meditation session. But I still felt pretty calm, so I didn't concern myself too much. Then I'd have a few family issues to sort out the day after, so skip my listening. But no big deal, because I was still relatively chilled.
Then life just gets "busy" and you forget all about your original goals. Becoming a better and more relaxed person tends to take a back-step.
Instead, you become the stressed out person you don't want to be -- rather than the happy, relaxed, more chilled individual you truly are.
It's a dreaded cycle. And it's easy to break through: you just need COMMITMENT.
You just need to say that I *will* sit this meditation program once a day for six days a week. I've done it before, and stumbled in exactly the same way. And I WILL do it again.
Maybe you're in a similar situation?
If you are, stick with it. The benefits are incredible.
Life has a way of making you "too busy". It makes you get so carried away with the trees, you can't see the woods. If that sounds like you, then it's time to change.
Habits take 21 days to 'set' into your lifestyle. Research (and personal experience) shows us just this.
Set yourself a challenge to listen to BrainEv every morning for six days a week, perhaps a half-hour before you would normally rise. After 21 days, it'll become the norm. Prior to that, and it might be a slight uphill battle.
After this slight 'false start', I'm going to give myself perhaps an extra week on BrainEv Level One (Transcendence) just to level out my losses.
And as ever, dearest reader, I will keep you informed every step of the way :)

Brainwave Meditation with BrainEv - Week Two
Welcome to another blog post on the site!
It's been two weeks now since I began my experiment with brainwave meditation, and the Brain Evolution System.
And there's no doubt that this has been a highly positive experience.
In fact, it's been almost a 'return home' for me.
Some years ago, I used BrainEv on a daily basis, meditating for 30 minutes each day. I got to a place of deep calm and serenity. After completing the course, I "topped up" with a couple of sessions a week, and really enjoyed my general state of being.
Then I somehow managed to forget how that felt, and allowed myself to get entangled back into the chaos that is daily life.
Try out BrainEv again over the past two weeks has been a reawakening experience. I've become more relaxed. I'm calmer. I can consciously notice how I'm not getting flustered by things that might otherwise have annoyed me.
I've started making other positive changes too.
I've given up a couple of annoying personal bad habits(!), and even started to add a few other personal improvement mechanisms into my life. For example, I've gone back to trying the Sedona Method a little, and using my SAD lamp in a morning.
In other words, it's week two and things are going GREAT.
One comment I would make however is that it's very easy to FORGET about BrainEv, and skip your daily meditation. I had a long weekend and ended up skipping it for three days.
Looking back, I realize they were actually the worse days for me in terms of general wellbeing and happiness. However, sometimes you get so far in the woods, you don't see the trees.
Consciously reflecting on this now, I'm able to realize the truth -- and give myself a stern warning to keep on track, and meditate and with a little more self-control :)
That's all for now - more next week!

Week One with BrainEv
You know, it's amazing how much you can forget about an experience.
A few years ago, my life got busy. I won't go into the exact reasons. But let's just say that I was in a tricky place, and time got the better of me. My usual peace and serenity was hurled out the window -- and replaced by 24/7 chaos.
So my usual daily "me time" simply got forgotten about, and over the years, the concept of meditation (using brainwave entrainment) has became nothing short of a distant memory.
As you know, this blog is all about reviving that -- delving into the world of brainwave entrainment/meditation -- and sharing my experiences with you.
Well, for the past week, I've been sitting the Brain Evolution System program.
Now, the Brain Evolution System (or BrainEv for short) is a six-level brainwave entrainment program. It's designed to help you get into a peak state of mind, and progressively hone your mental muscles, like a gym for your neurons.
Last week, I finally managed to settle down to my very first session -- after years of inactivity. And - exclamation mark - what a difference.
During my first 30 minute listening, time just flew by. I felt deeply relaxed, and slightly disconnected from the usual hustle and bustle of my mind. It took me a while to properly relax, and let go of some of those racing thoughts, but I did it. At points, I felt profound insights and moments of deep serenity. At other points, I just felt annoyed that my brain was operating too quickly.
Nonetheless, a profound experience to begin with. And the days that followed brought more.
So, here's a brief review of my first week using BrainEv...
Firstly, WOW. There's no doubt about it. The past week, I've noticed a significant increase in my mood. I'm not entirely sure how to explain it clearly, however I've just been generally more cheerful. I've found myself suddenly singing to songs, skipping from room to room, and being more "up" during the evenings. Think of the how you feel when on vacation. That has been my waking day.
Secondly, I've definitely noticed a decrease in stress. I've had a couple of points over the past week when I would've normally gone, um... ape. But I didn't. I've still found myself a little flustered in the worst of situations, but on the whole, I've been noticeably calmer. Not sure if that's just a placebo, because I'm taking a little more time out for myself. Either way, both myself and others have spotted it.
Truth be told, one of the reasons I started this journey again recently was because I realized just how much stress had been getting to me -- and vowed to make a change to help decrease those levels. BrainEv was the solution.
Thirdly, I've still noticed that my thoughts are WAY TOO BUSY when trying to relax. This has been annoying me. My mind keeps racing about shopping lists, work projects, and things to do today. I've found that concentrating on my breathing really helps to slow down my thoughts, helping me to get these momentary glimpses of mental clarity. It's just the start of the journey, so I know it'll settle down.
So.......
Some serious mood improvement, a definite reduction in stress levels, but with some continued 'busy thoughts' while trying to meditate.
That's all for this week. I have three more weeks to go listening to Level One (Transcendence) before moving onto the next. You also break for one day per week as part of the program, which is when I'm dedicating my time to writing this blog post.
There we have it. I'll be back next week with more updates. See you then!
In the meantime, if you want to try out brainwave entrainment for yourself, check http://gobrainev.com/demo
